Air Ambulance (MedjetAssist)
MedjetAssist is an annual travel membership program for people who travel for business or pleasure, in the United States or abroad. Planning a vacation is always a happy time, and no one ever wants to think about a hospitalization or medical emergency evacuation.
The truth is; medical emergencies happen every day. In fact, as many as 25,000 people are injured each year in accidents abroad and one in 30 international travelers will require emergency care. Why take the chance of being hospitalized in a country or hospital that you are unfamiliar with?
As a MedjetAssist member, if you are hospitalized more than 150 miles from home – virtually anywhere in the world- simply call MedjetAssist, and a specially equipped aircraft with a medical team can be dispatched to bring you to your home hospital or hospital of your choice, so you can be treated by your personal physician and be close to your family.
• Services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
• Call collect from anywhere
• Worldwide evacuation and repatriation
• You may be transported to the hospital of your choice
• Medical referrals
• Medical monitoring/consultation
• Foreign language interpretations
Common Questions About MedjetAssist
Regardless of medical necessity, MedjetAssist will transport members to the hospitals of their choice with virtually no pre-existing condition exclusions, health questions, deductibles or claim forms. There are no monetary limits to the program’s benefits and no restrictions on the amount or type of travel taken annually.
The MedjetAssist medical department consults with both your personal physician and the local attending physician as to what course of action is in the member’s best interest. As long as the member meets the transport criteria (inpatient status at both ends), and all safety issues have been considered; it is the member’s ultimate decision as to whether or not he or she is transported.
Two transports per year per membership. In the case of a common accident involving multiple family members, each and every member of the enrolled family will receive one transport.
The vast majority of traditional health providers do not provide coverage for air medical evacuation and transportation services. If there is some coverage of this type, it will likely contain restrictions and significant out-of-pocket costs. Check with your provider for specific details.
